Christmas a lo Cubano

Mi Tierra hosts a traditional cintura competition at Club Marconi last month.

For locals:
Next Saturday, Mi Tierra play at the combined Picante/Ruedisima Christmas party. Last year's featured Mi Tierra and Mucho Mambo and was terrific fun. This year's should be just as good - Mi Tierra are sounding great, and I love their wide repertoire, which encompasses all the timba classics - their versions of ManolĂn's Te conozco mascarita and Me pase de copas at Marconi were fantastic - melodic and gritty - con mucha fuerza. And no I'm not on the payroll, I just think they rock! The gig is at the Uni of NSW's Squarehouse on December 16. For more info go to the Ruedisima or Picante web sites.

I was going to write a blurb about the forthcoming Cuban night at the Watershed - it was slated for December 22, but ater a squizz at the Casa de la Salsa web site it looks like it's off. If I find out anything to the contrary, I will post it here.

Sorry I've been a bit slack re the blog. Haven't been in tip-top condition lately, but I have a couple of stories in the works.
