Spoke to my buddy Duniesky, from Pupy's band, this morning. It was the evening of Easter Thursday, their time, and he was just settling down to drink some rum and watch a Marcus Miller DVD with some muso buddies from Papa Arango. He said that they have finished recording the new album and that it all went well. He doesn't know when it will be out - maybe May. William has left, and Jannier has returned to sing with the band. He joins Pepito, Mandy, and Lily, the first chica to sing with Pupy. He said tomorrow - Good Friday - Pupy will play at La Tropical - which makes it a great Friday in my book - so get along if you happen to be in Havana. He also said they are playing every Tuesday at Miramar at the moment.
I have booked my ticket and will arrive in Havana on April 26, so I will be able to provide firsthand updates from then until June 8. Woohoo!
