Prelude to a trip

So I know that in my previous post I said I would be going to Cuba mid-May - things have changed since then. I'm still in Sydney, but I'm heading to Havana at the end of next week. I arrive two days after Pupy Y Los Que Son Son head to the States. ¡Que lastima! Also out of town: Havana d'Primera and (I think) RevĂ©. Sigh. It was tricky trying to tie in my dates with at-home dates of various bands, and despite shifting my holiday once, I failed. Work dictated that I only had so much room to move, and all of those bands will be in Havana at some point while I'm there - I just hope they get on the gigging scene when they come home.
While they're away, I'll check out bands I didn't get to last year - in particular, I'm looking forward to seeing Klimax (though I know they have a July tour of Europe lined up as well), Charanga Latina and Tumbao Havana, who I saw once, but am looking forward to seeing again now that I know their album Mambo duro well. Apart from anything else, I need a fucking holiday, and the cold rainy Sydney weather is getting me down.

Meanwhile, before I go, our salsa night, One Night in Cuba, has found a new home, and tomorrow I'll be playing along with Mani, Nandez and AV El Cubano at the City Hotel in the city. Details are here. See you there, Sydney salseros.
